Kerala is home to several world-class medical institutions that are highly acclaimed for their excellence in the field of medical education. In Kerala, there are a total of 30 medical colleges, including 10 government, 19 private, and 1 deemed college. These institutions offer a combined total of 3672 MBBS seats for state quota (excluding 15% AIQ seats). The centralized Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) handles the seat allotment process for the deemed college.

The Kerala NEET UG counseling process consists of three rounds, namely "Round 1," "Round 2," which takes place online, and a final "Mop-up" round conducted offline. If any seat remains vacant after the mop-up round, then College will conduct another round for admission. This is known as a "Stray round" or "College level spot round".

In accordance with the results of NEET 2023, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) conducts Kerala MBBS Admission 2023 at the state level. Steps Involved In The Kerala NEET  UG Counselling Process 2023

To initiate the admission process, candidates must register themselves online at www.cee.kerala.gov.in and pay a Kerala NEET counselling registration fee of INR 500. 

After successful registration, they can log in to their account using their ID and password, and take a printout of their online application. Candidates must also upload all the required documents on the website.

• The authorities will publish the seat vacancy details for each round of counseling. A merit list will also be published based on the NEET scores and other eligibility criteria. 
• Candidates must then select their preferred colleges and courses by filling in their choices and locking them in.
• Based on the candidate's merit rank and preferred choices, seat allotment will be done for the respective rounds of counseling. 
• After being allotted a seat, candidates must report to the respective college within the given time frame to confirm their admission.
• Candidates who wish to upgrade their seats can do so by opting for the up-gradation option, which will be available in subsequent rounds of counseling.
• It is important to note that the registration process will be open only once before the first round of counseling, and candidates must ensure that they complete all the necessary steps within the given deadlines.

Kerala NEET Counselling Fee Structure

Kerala welcomes students from all over India to participate in the Kerala NEET UG counseling process. However, the fee structure for Private Medical Colleges is still under legal dispute, and discussions regarding the same come up every year during the counseling process. In recent years, the fee structure for Private Medical Colleges in Kerala has been a topic of intense debate. 

While the minimum fee was supposed to be around 7.65 Lacs and the maximum fee could go up to 20 Lacs per annum, students who had taken admitted in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 batches are still paying the old fee structure of Rs 6.22 Lacs to 7.5 Lacs, indicating that the fee is yet to be finalized.

Students considering admission through Management quota in Private Medical Colleges in Kerala must keep in mind that they need to sign an agreement pertaining to fee hikes at the time of admission, and they will have to pay the revised fee in case it comes into force. This may create a huge financial burden on parents.

The fee must be paid for five years instead of 4.5 years, so students must calculate their budget accordingly. Additionally, other charges such as Hostel, Mess, Stationary, and Miscellaneous charges are also on the higher side, which may amount to around 2 – 2.5 Lacs altogether. During the second round of counseling, students can shuffle their choices based on the colleges filled in the first round, but they are not allowed to add a new college.
