Gujarat has opened applications for state counseling for admissions to the first year of undergraduate courses in medical, dental, ayurvedic, and homeopathy for the academic year 2024-25. The application is available to the following categories of students:

• Gujarat Domicile Students: These are students who are permanent residents of Gujarat and are eligible to apply for all courses under state counseling.
   
• NRI Candidates: Non-Resident Indians can apply for these courses in Gujarat.
   
• Students from Other States: Students who are not from Gujarat can apply under the 15% AYUSH quota for BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery) in private colleges in Gujarat.

However, Gujarat follows a "closed state" policy for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses in private medical colleges. This means that only students who are residents of Gujarat or NRI candidates can apply for these courses. Other state students are not eligible for MBBS and BDS seats in private medical colleges in Gujarat.
