All India NEET Counselling 2023 Counselling Process

All India NEET Counselling 2023 is conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in four rounds. Round 1, Round 2 and when seats remain vacant even after Round 2 then further additional round named as mop-up and stray round is conducted.

Here are the steps involved in NEET 2023 Counselling Process:-

Step 1: Registration

A student must go to the MCC's official website, mcc.nic.in, and pay the required registration fee for their category in order to take part in the All-India NEET Counselling 2023.

Note:- The Registration fee is non-refundable (Govt-Seats)

Category     Fees (in Rs.)
General 1000
Reserved (SC/ST/OBC/PWD)  500
Deemed Universities (All category) 5000

Security fees

Note:- The security fee is refundable. However, in some conditions, it is not refundable. Read the entire process to know when the security fees is not refundable.

Category  Amount
General  Rs. 10,000
Reserved (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) Rs. 5,000
Deemed Universities (All category) Rs. 2,00,000

Step 2: All India NEET 2023 Counselling Choice Filling and Locking

After completing the registration procedure successfully, student must select the institution of their choice, based on which they will be given a seat. Log in to your registered account on the MCC portal to fill the choice, and make sure the choices are locked. Take a printout of the completed choices after you've finished.

Be careful when deciding the choice of college, as once made cannot be changed.

Step 3: Round 1 Result Announcement

Case 1: When a student is successfully assigned a seat in Round 1 and reports to the college for admission. Counselling then ends as the student is satisfied with the college.

Case 2: If a seat has been assigned but the student did not report because they're unhappy with their seat assignment, they are permitted to freely withdraw from Round 1. The security deposit is refundable in this case.

Case 3: Where a student has been assigned a seat and intends to enroll in that college. However, still thinking to look for another good option just to be on the safe side.

IMPORTANT NOTE:- In this case, a student will be required to take the seat that was originally given in Round 1 if they do not get one even in Round 2. The student won't be qualified for any more rounds of counselling, either.

Step 4: All India NEET Counselling Round 2 Registration

All students who did not enroll in Round 1 of AII India Counselling are entitled to participate in Round 2, and those who are considering to upgrade their initial choice. This will be the final chance to upgrade your options.

Case 1: At the Time of Fresh Allotment

If a student registered in Round 2 and is happy with the options filled, counselling will end in that scenario.
Where a student was given a seat reservation but failed to report at the reserved college. Therefore, the security money in this instance is not returnable. Additionally, if the student chooses to participate in a mop-up counselling session, they will again be required to pay the security fee.

Case 2 : Upgradation

When a student applies for upgradation of college but did not get upgraded then the student shall get the previous choice that was made in Round 1.

If a student who has been offered a place decides not to report to the college and instead wants to take part in additional rounds of counselling, the security deposit will be lost and will not be refunded.

Step 5: Declaration of Round 2 Result Announcement

According to a new NMC rule, students who took part in Round 2 of All India NEET Counselling or State Counselling are ineligible to take part in any additional counselling.

This is a sensible regulation implemented by NMC to offer seats to the students who obtained low ranks and prevent the circumstance of seats being blocked by students who previously received seats.

Many students reserve seats even after they have been given ones in an effort to find better rates. Due to which students with low ranks suffer each year as a result of blocking seats. This new regulation, which NMC has developed to prevent this from happening, is generally a wise choice.

Step 6: Mop Up Round

The students who were not allotted seat in R1 and R2 and students having low rank making fresh registration are eligible for participating in Mop up round. In Mop up round, new choice filling is done that is released after MCC releases the seat matrix. At this stage, no opportunity will be given to modify the choices made and will continue to be same for stray round also.

Step 7: Declaration of Mop up Round Result

Case 1 : Seat Allotted

Once a seat is accepted, counselling for that student is over. In contrast, where the student is allotted a seat but is not going to report to the college because he wants to look for some better options again then, in that case, security amount will not be refunded.

Case 2: No Seat Allotted

Where the student did not get a seat due to low score then that student will become eligible to apply for registration in stray vacancy to get a seat in All India NEET Counselling 2023.
