About GITAM
GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, popularly known as GIMSR, was established in the year 2015. It is the first deemed medical college of Andhra Pradesh. The college campus has all the modern amenities conducive to student learning.
GIMSR Hospital was established a year before establishment of GITAM Institute, in the year 2014. At present, the institution has almost 600 undergraduate students and started PG Programmes from 2021-22 in 12 clinical and 2 para-clinical courses.
The medical college is a well-reputed college having strong academics and research linkages supported by multidisciplinary colleges in the GITAM (Deemed to be University) across the three campuses in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The Department of Anaesthesia is integral to the GITAM Hospital offering services in 20 advanced operating theatres covering various surgical specialties, including orthopedics, general surgery, and obstetrics. It focuses on advanced techniques like general and regional Anaesthesia and TIVA.
Each PG batch consists of 6 students, bringing the total number of PG students to 18. In addition to clinical services, the department of Anaesthesia is well equipped with the facilities such as museum, department Library and seminar hall.

2. Department of Dermatology
Department of Dermatology offers excellence in clinical care, skin health education and research. It offers outpatient and inpatient services and treat conditions such as infections, infestations, papulo-squamous disorders, auto-immune diseases, blistering disorders, STDs, psycho-cutaneous, pre-malignant & malignant conditions with a specific mention of leprosy and HIV. With the advanced equipment available, we are providing various Dermato-Surgical and Aesthetic procedures as day care procedures.

Department of Emergency Medicine is a 13,000 sq.ft 24/7 facility having advanced technology and skilled professionals. It helps patients deliver rapid, high quality emergency care. It is designed for timely triage, stabilization, and intervention across all medical and surgical emergencies, while also serving as a teaching and training hub.

4. Department of General Medicine
Department of General Medicine is one of the most important department of any medical college. It serves a dual purpose: delivering high-quality patient care and providing comprehensive medical education and training to undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD in General Medicine) students.
The department trains residents in advanced clinical skills, diagnostics, evidence-based medicine, and multidisciplinary care. They are exposed to a variety of cases across multiple subspecialties such as cardiology, nephrology, neurology, rheumatology, infectious diseases, and endocrinology.
5. Department of General Surgery
Department of General Surgery offers a comprehensive range of both general and super specialty services. It has five specialized units, each led by experienced and dedicated Professors and Associate Professors, ensuring high standards of patient care, teaching, and research.13 well-equipped operating theaters are available. Each PG batch consists of 6 students, bringing the total number of PG students to 18.

6. Department of ENT
ENT department is one of the best departments to teach and train the UG medical students with all the latest advances. Initially, the department was run in the Health Centre at the GITAM campus. In 2014, it was shifted to GIMSR hospital now consists of 08 highly qualified and experienced teaching and surgical faculty.

The necessary set of documents required for general and NRI category students are as follows:-
- MCC allotment letter
- 12th marks sheet
- NEET PG 2025 Admit card issued by NBE
- NEET PG 2025 Result / Rank letter issued by NBE
- Marks sheets and consolidated marks card of MBBS
- MBBS Degree certificate
- Internship completion certificate
- Permanent MBBS Registration Certificate from any State Medical Council / MCI /NMC.
- SSC/HSC/Birth Certificate as proof of Date of Birth
- Conduct and Transfer Certificate
- Proof of the details of the payment of the fee
- ID proof - Copy of Aadhaar card & PAN card (Candidate and Parent)
- Community (SC/ST/OBC) Certificate / Disability Certificate, if applicable
In addition to the above, the candidates who have been allotted a seat under the NRI / NRI sponsored category, the following original documents have to be submitted at the time of reporting:
- Documents claiming that the sponsor is an NRI (Passport, Visa)
- Relationship of NRI with the candidate.
- Affidavit from the sponsor to sponsor the entire course fee of the candidate, duly Notarized.
- Embassy - certificate of the sponsor ( Certificate from the Consulate)
