Eligibility Requirements for Undergraduate Engineering Programs

• Candidates must have completed the 10+2 examination (equivalent to Karnataka’s two-year Pre-University) with Physics and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.
   
• Student must have Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/Electronics as an optional subject in the qualifying examination. Student must have scored at least 45% aggregate in the qualifying examination in case of general category.  While for SC/ST, Category-1, and OBC Candidates, student must score at least 40% aggregate in the qualifying examination.
   
• If a candidate scores lower marks in Chemistry, the marks obtained in Biotechnology/Biology/Computer Science/Electronics will be considered to meet the required aggregate percentage.
   
• Candidates must qualify in any one of the following exams:

1. KCET
2. COMEDK
3. JEE

Eligibility Criteria for NRI/Foreign/PIO Candidates (Supernumerary Quota – B.E. Programs Only)

• Candidates must have completed the 10+2 education system, which is equivalent to the Karnataka Pre-University curriculum.
• The qualifying subjects should include Physics and Mathematics, along with any one of the following: Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Electronics/Biology.
• English must be one of the languages of study in the qualifying examination.
• A minimum of 45% marks in optional subjects is required, as per VTU eligibility criteria.

Category-Specific Eligibility

• NRI (Non-Resident Indian) Candidates: Children of Indian workers in Gulf countries are eligible for the NRI quota (as per The Gazette of India – 2004).
• Foreign Nationals: Citizens of any country other than India (as per The Gazette of India – 2004).
• PIO (Persons of Indian Origin): Individuals who are citizens of other countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) but have previously held an Indian passport.

Candidates whose parents or grandparents were Indian citizens by the provisions of the Constitution of India (as per The Gazette of India – 2004).
