Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute (CHRI) is a teaching hospital attached to Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE), located within Chettinad Health City, Kelambakkam, on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), Tamil Nadu. The hospital was established in 2006 and serves as a major centre for medical education, clinical training, tertiary healthcare and research.
CHRI Hospital has 1180 beds, including 30 emergency beds, more than 100 ICU beds, 16 operation theatres and a 24*7 emergency and trauma centre. Eligibility Criteria for PG Admission in Chettinad Academy of Research and Education
All the below given conditions must be fulfilled in order to obtain PG (MD/MS) seat in Chettinad Academy of Research and Education
- Candidates must have completed an MBBS degree from a recognised medical college/institution.
- Qualifying NEET-PG is mandatory for admission to the postgraduate medical and surgical degree programmes at Chettinad.
- Candidates must have satisfactorily completed the one-year compulsory rotatory residential internship (CRRI) within the prescribed deadline.
- Candidates must hold a permanent registration certificate with the National Medical Commission or the applicable State Medical Council after completing their MBBS qualification.
- Candidate must have obtained minimum of 50 percentile in case of general, 40th percentile in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45th percentile in case of andidates with locomotor disability of the lower limbs.
Chettinad Academy of Research and Education PG Admission Process 2026-27
Securing PG Admission in Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute (CHRI), Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) shall be done on the basis of NEET PG Score. As CARE is a Deemed to be University, candidates seeking PG seat shall be required to participate in the MCC Deemed University Counselling.
Step 1 - Qualify NEET PG Exam
Primay step involved in the CARE Chennai PG Admission Process is to appear and qualify NEET PG Exam in order to become eligible.
Step 2 - Register for MCC NEET PG Counselling 2026-27
Post declaration of NEET PG Exam Result, eligible candidates can proceed with MCC NEET PG Counselling 2026-27 and select the category of “Deemed University”.
Step 3 - Pay the Applicable Counselling Fee
During MCC registration, candidates have to complete the prescribed payment formalities, including the applicable registration and security-fee requirements for Deemed University counselling. Candidates should check the current MCC counselling notification for the exact 2026-27 amounts.
Step 4 - Fill and Lock Choices
After registration, candidates can select their preferred MD/MS courses and Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute in the MCC choice-filling window. Candidates should arrange their choices according to their preferred specialty, expected rank, fee budget and clinical interests.
Step 5 - Seat Allotment
MCC processes the choices on the basis of NEET-PG rank, candidate preferences, seat availability and applicable counselling rules. If a candidate is allotted an MD/MS seat at Chettinad, the allotment letter can be downloaded from the MCC portal.
Step 6 - Report to Chettinad Academy of Research and Education
After receiving the seat allotment, the candidate must report to Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, Kelambakkam, Tamil Nadu, within the deadline mentioned in the MCC allotment letter. CARE's admission bulletin specifically states that candidates allotted a PG seat through MCC must report to the institution within the stipulated date and time.
