Shillong Medical College was established in 2024 by the government of Meghalaya. It is recognised by the NMC and affiliated with North Eastern Hill University.

Shillong Medical College’s infrastructure is being developed with a primary emphasis on clinical readiness and academic effectiveness. Dissection halls, demonstration rooms, and simulation-based training facilities have all been constructed as part of the campus's design to provide hands-on education in all the major areas of medicine, including well-defined departments for each of the major subject areas.
