Established in 1957, the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER) is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the MCI. 

The college offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty medical courses. Offering UG, PG and diploma courses, the college also offers super-specialty courses such as Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) in various disciplines.
