GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR), located in Visakhapatnam, was established in 2015 as the first deemed medical college under GITAM (Deemed-to-be University). Recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), GIMSR offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medicine and paramedical sciences. Admissions are merit-based, with selection through exams like NEET UG, NEET PG, and the GITAM Admission Test (GAT). The institute offers 150 seats for its MBBS program and six specializations under the B.Sc. paramedical sciences stream. To Encourage academic excellence, GIMSR provides scholarships and stipends to high-performing students. GITAM University, under which GIMSR operates, was ranked in the 101–150 band in the NIRF 2023 rankings, reflecting its solid academic standing.
Life at GIMSR is designed to be both comfortable and enriching. The campus features modern labs and museums, well-furnished lecture halls with air-conditioning and smart teaching tools, a well-stocked central library, and even an on-campus branch of Union Bank of India for convenient banking. Students are provided with separate hostels for children, each equipped with essential amenities. There are also a variety of recreational options, including sports facilities, a gym, cultural events, and NSS activities. When it comes to food, students have no shortage of choices, with seven hygienic food courts offering a range of meals from popular spots like Bheema, Annapurna, Sai Ram, Blue Bells, Subway, Frankie, and the Coca-Cola Happiness Station.

Thanks to GITAM University’s dedicated placement cell, students get access to internships and career guidance, helping them secure roles in reputed hospitals, research centres, and healthcare organizations across the country. This well-rounded approach ensures that students are not just academically prepared but also career ready.
