AIIMS Admission Process 2025-26

To get MBBS Admission in AIIMS, students must participate in the All India counselling conducted by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee). AIIMS does not offer any state quota seats, meaning students from any state can apply and compete equally for all available seats, regardless of their home state.

However, category-based reservations (such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD) are still applicable as per Government of India norms. This ensures that while everyone competes at the national level, candidates from reserved categories still get the benefit of reservation.

In simple terms, if you are aiming for a seat in any AIIMS across India, it doesn't matter which state you're from everyone has equal access, and selections are made purely on the basis of your NEET-UG rank and category eligibility.

How Many AIIMS in India List

As of now, there are a total of 20 AIIMS (All India Institutes of Medical Sciences) across India offering 2,207 MBBS seats in total. These prestigious institutes are spread across various states, ensuring broader access to top-tier medical education throughout the country.

Among all, AIIMS New Delhi stands out not only as the oldest and most reputed AIIMS but also for offering the highest number of MBBS seats, including 132 general category seats and 7 seats reserved for NRI candidates.

While several Indian states now have their own AIIMS, the number of MBBS seats available in each institute is still quite limited. As a result, the competition is extremely tough, and cutoffs remain very high each year. This makes securing admission into any AIIMS a significant achievement, especially due to the quality of education, infrastructure, and clinical exposure these institutes provide.

If you’re aiming for a seat in AIIMS, be prepared to work hard and aim for a top NEET-UG rank!
